Are The Big spenders Really The Top Earners?

We live in a society, where we judge people's net worth by the amount of money they spend. This is not correct (in GEJ's voice).

We tend to calculate a person's bank balance by the number of bottles he pops in the club, cars, or area of residence and the stamps on his or her passport. I'm sure most of us have met people who we feel are so rich, they have really nice cars, live in tush places and are quite generous, then after some time they are broke. When this happens, we start blaming innocent villagers.

When you spend all the money you make, you are not rich, you are pre-broke. That is not a good place to be. For Instance, Obi made 10 million naira from his first deal, He goes out and buys a 5 million naira car, moves from his 500k a year Lokogoma house to a 2 million a year service apartment in Maitama extension. Pops a few bottles for his Barbies and goons twice a week at an exclusive club for a month. Then gives his mum lets say 500k for her upkeep and that of his younger siblings, he is a family guy jor. Lets not take that from him lol. Biko my brothers and sisters, how much does he have left? Zero! The hustle continues.

If Obi was wise, or didn't have hailers, he could have put back some of the money he made into a business, which would increase his net worth, saved some of the money and may be remained in his old apartment. I'm not saying don't enjoy your money, but when you are starting up in a business, you have to be broke for a little while. You have to grow your money, if not, you will work for the rest of your life. There are some really rich young people you won't even know have a dime. They are not on instagram showing off, you won't see them in clubs every weekend, but their net worth speaks for them.

This article is not just for the people who their money come in millions, those of us who still earn in thousands are not left out. if you get 100k today and finish it today, how on earth will you become a millionaire? I can't overemphasize the importance of putting aside at least 10% of every money you receive and reinvesting it. You can't be dreaming of Forbes while living a pre-broke lifestyle.

Today, take out some time and reflect on how you spend your money, who you spend it on and check if tomorrow, something happens, if those people will be there for you and if the bottles you popped in the club will sustain you. I guess not. Secure your future today, find yourself a good mentor, save your money, invest wisely and pray. The hustle will pay!!!!

p.s: Obi is just a boy, i don't know him, neither do you. hehhe

Girls and our non-saving culture

Excuse the title, i know a few girls who can save their money till thy kingdom come. No matter how nice the shoe or bag is, they are not buying. If you are one of them, this article is not for you but feel free to read.

Do you believe in retail therapy? Do nice things you didn't buy haunt your dreams? Do you believe money is what money can buy? Yaaaaay!!! hey sister girl! you are my soul sister. I won't deny the fact nice things make me really happy. When i'm sick, no need to go to the hospital, i just need new shoes or a bag or sunglasses. No medication as strong as those. It was so bad, i used to buy a new shoe every week when I was in school. Hey Oga shoe in CAS (you finished my money ooo).

Everyone knows it is not easy being a girl. There is a lot pressure, as if the normal people we see everyday are  not enough, we now have instagram and snapchat to finish us mortal combat style. We have to keep up with fashion trends, makeup and gadgets and this makes our money suffer. A girl has to look nice all the time, if not, how will the market sell? But we shouldn't trade the future for the present.

I used to be really reckless with money, not like I've completely learnt how to save but I'm trying. My account used to go from green to red real quick and I had nothing to show for such expenses. No long term plans, just spend it and wait for then next time you get an alert. When I went for NYSC, Abuja was like 'Adanna you gon learn today'. I started following a few blogs, I started reading and I became wiser. Not completely money smart yet, but I try. At least I know I have to save now.

Dear girl like me, lets get to the main thing which is putting aside a little of what you earn. Those of us who are jobless will soon come for me. Sister, put a little of what you are 'dashed' aside. If you make one million a month and spend one million a month, you are not better than who didn't make a kobo that month. You are even worse sef,

The richest man in Babylon, taught me to save 10 percent of every money I make. if someone gives you 1000, keep 100 and see the power of compound effect. You may not be able to buy certain things when you begin to save, but it doesn't take away the fact you can afford it. Imagine you started saving 100 naira everyday from the day you turned 20, how much would you have saved up by the time you are 30? Do the math yourself.

Saving is one thing, investing is another. You shouldn't save to spend, save to invest in something that will make you more money. Put your gold to work girl! Buy things that are of value. Some of us, our collection of weaves can buy Land in some parts of Abuja LOL. That money is gone you know. Invest in things that will give you money to buy weaves and other stuffs that you like from interests. Invest in treasury bills, Gold, even in some multilevel marketing businesses like Total life changes (best compensation Plan in the world), If you are a 'bigz girl' like Jenifa, buy land. But by all means, put your gold to work.

Parents, teach your kids about saving, give them a little money at the beginning of the week and have them tell you how they spent it and how much they saved at the end of the week. It is never too early to learn about money.

I recommend you follow @smartmoneyarese on Instagram and read her blog posts too. Read The richest man in Babylon, the Compound Effect by Darren Hardy.

My MLM Journey

MLM stands for multi-Level  Marketing. it is a marketing strategy where the sales person is not only compensated for the sales he/she generates, but also for the sales their recruits generate. This marketing strategy, is also known as network marketing, pyramid selling etc.

over the years, I have had people come up to me, pitch their business, and because I like to listen to people when they talk about how to make money, i pay attention. When it comes to the part where i have to bring money, i disappear. who on earth wants to go into network marketing???? Definitely not Adanna. I had a million reasons why I shouldn't even consider it.

Fast Forward to December of 2015, fresh out of NYSC, no source of income, partially broke, erase that, BROKE, unemployed, with huge Abuja rent hanging around my neck. I met Ada, a young woman like me, earning  close to 3 million naira every month. in her words 'i can't be humble about this. MLM works". I was like see my mate and I'm here with almost red, scratch that, RED bank account.

I made up my mind to start this business, i didn't have the cash at hand and considering the fact I didn't have a source of income, i had to put my dreams on hold and pray to God. Prayers were answered, when i met Mrs Ibok, she introduced me to total life changes another MLM business, it was affordable at that point in my life so i joined. Still had Fastrack in mind, so i decided to work as hard as I can to join.

Thankfully, today I'm a proud independent business owner with Total life changes and also fastrack. I'm not exactly where i want to be, but at least the current economic situation, doesn't bite so hard anymore also with the wide range of natural products i get doing this business, I'm healthier than ever. Go Iaso tea!!!! The best part is that you can work from the comfort of your home. Whats good Monday? LOL

I know the things stopping you from going into network marketing, i have been there. Trust me, it is just you, keeping yourself from being what you can and should be. You should be living your dream life. Those of you who are already living their dream lives, who has an extra source of income hurt?  Not Jim Rohn, definitely not me hehehe.
